Closeness centrality via the Condorcet principle

چکیده
We provide a characterization of closeness centrality in the class distance-based centralities. To this end, we introduce natural property, called majority comparison, that states out two adjacent nodes one closer to more is central. prove any satisfies property gives same ranking every graph as centrality. The axiom inspired by interpretation an election which are both voters and candidates their preferences determined distances other nodes.

Closeness Centrality Extended To Unconnected Graphs : The Harmonic Centrality Index
Social network analysis is a rapid expanding interdisciplinary field, growing from work of sociologists, physicists, historians, mathematicians, political scientists, etc. Some methods have been commonly accepted in spite of defects, perhaps because of the rareness of synthetic work like (Freeman, 1978; Faust & Wasserman, 1992). In this article, we propose an alternative index of closeness cent...
متن کاملIncremental closeness centrality in distributed memory
Networks are commonly used to model traffic patterns, social interactions, or web pages. The vertices in a network do not possess the same characteristics: some vertices are naturally more connected and some vertices can be more important. Closeness centrality (CC) is a global metric that quantifies how important is a given vertex in the network. When the network is dynamic and keeps changing, ...
متن کاملA Binary Search Algorithm for Correlation Study of Decay Centrality vs. Degree Centrality and Closeness Centrality
Results of correlation study (using Pearson's correlation coefficient, PCC) between decay centrality (DEC) vs. degree centrality (DEG) and closeness centrality (CLC) for a suite of 48 real-world networks indicate an interesting trend: PCC(DEC, DEG) decreases with increase in the decay parameter δ (0 < δ < 1) and PCC(DEC, CLC) decreases with decrease in δ. We make use of this trend of monotonic ...
متن کاملThe Influence of Closeness Centrality on Lexical Processing
The present study examined how the network science measure known as closeness centrality (which measures the average distance between a node and all other nodes in the network) influences lexical processing. In the mental lexicon, a word such as CAN has high closeness centrality, because it is close to many other words in the lexicon. Whereas, a word such as CURE has low closeness centrality be...
متن کاملThe Condorcet Principle for Multiwinner Elections: From Shortlisting to Proportionality
We study two notions of stability in multiwinner elections that are based on the Condorcet criterion. The first notion was introduced by Gehrlein: A committee is stable if each committee member is preferred to each non-member by a (possibly weak) majority of voters. The second notion is called local stability (introduced in this paper): A size-k committee is locally stable in an election with n...
